Angel Lopez was born in Guanajuato, Mexico- the beautiful capital city famous for its historical architecture and tourist-friendly annual International Cervantes Culture Festival. Angel has worked at restaurants throughout the United States for over twenty years, of which ten have been contributed to Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. He was promoted to Executive Chef and is now officially the face behind the amazing works of art that this esteemed steak house has been serving for twenty-four years. Angel loves soccer and can be found cheering for his favorite team, Chivas, when he's not concocting his next masterpiece for the loyal patrons of Ruth's Chris. Nestled at a prime and convenient location, Ruth's Chris can be found at the corner of famous 6th Street where it meets nostalgic Congress Avenue, under the historic Scarbrough building. The restaurant opened its doors in 1985 and is 100% locally owned and proud. The restaurant was redesigned in 1999 to allow elaborate seating for up to 350. Patrons also enjoy private dining areas and The Lounge, a beautiful addition which allows an atmospheric change for businessmen and women, as well as locals and visitors, to meet and conduct business or gather before and after a performance or concert. Restaurants like Ruth's Chris, with the special and delicious touch of genius Chef Angel Lopez behind the scenes, help to paint Austin as the fun and different Capital that it is, that still boasts an upscale vibe with lavish accommodations and dining. Throughout the last twenty-four years, locals and visitors in Austin have enjoyed New Orleans-inspired appetizers, the finest aged, Mid-western corn-fed, USDA Prime steaks, fresh seafood, lamb and veal chops, accompanied by classic desserts, all complemented with a wine list that has won the coveted Wine Spectator "Award of Excellence" annually since 1995.
