 Photo Courtesy of Cafe Blu Executive Chef Antonio Moreno has been honing his culinary skills in some of Austin’s finest kitchens since 1996. After stints with such notable Austin restaurants as Iron Cactus Mexican Grill, Gumbo’s, and Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Chef Antonio was entrusted with the menu for the new incarnation of Cafe Blue in the spring of 2007. Chef Antonio’s cuisine has garnered acclaim and won awards, including being honored by Citysearch with Austin’s “Best Seafood” award in 2008. The restaurant was also bestowed with the runner-up awards for “Best Brunch” and “Best Outdoor Dining” in the Citysearch poll. Cafe Blue’s menu features an eclectic celebration of coastal cuisines from around the world.
“Cafe Bleu” was opened in 2001 on the shore of Lake Travis, in Volente, and has undergone a few different incarnations with varying ownership and management groups. The current regime purchased the restaurant in 2007, changing the name to Cafe Blue to better suit the disposition of the new ownership group, and to better suit Chef Antonio’s outstanding cuisine. The ownership group is local, featuring over 25 combined years of experience in the Austin restaurant scene, and deep roots in the Lake Travis community. The restaurant is a seasonal destination, featuring an outdoor deck with breathtaking views of the lake, and is an intimate venue to enjoy the spectacular Hill Country sunset. It is accessible by land or by lake, with ample boat parking available at the neighboring Sandy Creek Yacht Club. The bar features award-winning cocktails, an ample wine list, 3 Hi-Def TV’s, Wi-Fi, and has Happy Hour features Mon-Fri.
