Austin is an active city and proudly holds the title of the fittest in Texas: Austinites love biking through the city much like local hero Lance Armstrong. They have their own bikes-only bridge that spans Town Lake from Barton Springs to Congress Avenue and there are numerous bike paths throughout town. The 360 Highway offers a challenging route for more advanced bikers. Amazing natural water excursions like Hamilton Pool and the gigantic Barton Springs Aquafer provide opportunities for swimming and play, and you can’t drive down Lamar without seeing plenty of people enjoying frisbee golf or jogging along Town Lake.

The gently sloping hill country is the perfect environment for over a dozen lush golf courses, beautiful and relaxing resorts and endless opportunity for fun in the famous Austin sunshine.
Austin is lucky to be surrounded by green and has a well-earned nickname: “A City Within a Park.” Austin is home to two-dozen greenbelts and more than 200 parks and 12 different dog parks. Find 40 miles of hike and bike trails surrounding and within the city.
A love for being active isn’t all that you will see in the “Live Music Capital of the World.” Austinite’s are also big fans of boat, car and motorcycle shows and college and national sports teams. There are sports bars around every corner of active downtown and dotted throughout the surrounding neighborhoods.
The fierce competition that University of Texas athletics provides can be felt during March Madness and through football season. Austin also enjoys baseball leaguers, the Round Rock Express. and, Austin’s newst sports franchise, The Austin Toros that have brought the love of basketball from Austin to a national scale.
